New York City, November 2025
In a historic moment, Zohran Mamdani has been elected as New York City’s first Muslim mayor.
Mamdani, known for his progressive politics and grassroots activism, said his victory represents a shift in power — placing it firmly in the hands of ordinary New Yorkers. He pledged to serve all communities across the city and to challenge federal policies that he says harm working people.

On Tuesday, young voters turned out in huge numbers, overwhelmingly backing Mamdani and other progressive Democratic candidates.
Election officials reported a record turnout of nearly two million voters — one of the largest in New York City’s history.
