Samia Suluhu Sworn In as Tanzania’s First Female President — Amid Blood and Silence

Dodoma, Tanzania — November 2025

So, it’s official — Samia Suluhu Hassan has been sworn in today as Tanzania’s first female president, following an election marred by deadly protests, chaos, and controversy.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at a military facility in Dodoma, under tight security and closed to the public. Only select VIPs and political elites were allowed in — while the streets outside remain tense and guarded.

Let’s break it down:
More than 32 million votes counted in less than 48 hours — and that’s without electricity or internet access? Make it make sense.

If the elections were truly “free and fair” as Samia’s team claims, and 98% of Tanzanians supposedly voted for her, then why was the ceremony hidden behind military walls?
Where are the ordinary Tanzanians — the very people she’s meant to serve for the next five years?

The military once promised to protect the people, but that promise seems broken. Reports of violence and killings continue to surface, yet the world stays silent.

Meanwhile, the same leaders accused of oppressing and silencing citizens now stand smiling in power — as if the blood in the streets never existed.

The world is watching. Tanzania is hurting. And the people are asking — who’s really in charge now ?

✊🏽 Original East Take:
History made — but at what cost?
When democracy dies in daylight, even victory feels like defeat.
